Australia’s first National Action Plan submitted
The Minister for Finance, Senator the Hon. Mathias Cormann, today announced the finalisation of Australia’s first National Action Plan.
The Plan contains 15 ambitious commitments focused on: transparency and accountability in business; open data and digital transformation; access to government information; integrity in the public sector; and public participation and engagement.
The Plan was developed through a year-long process which included several rounds of consultation, including a recent public submission process on the draft National Action Plan.
Thank you to all stakeholders who have contributed, including the members of the Interim Working Group. Many of the commitments involve additional public consultation on implementation, so sign up to our mailing list to get the latest news and stay involved. In the next few weeks, we will also be publishing a summary of public submissions and feedback on why suggestions made through the recent consultation process were or were not adopted.
The creation of a National Action Plan is part of the commitment the Australian Government made when it became a member of the Open Government Partnership. Australian Government representatives are currently attending the fourth OGP Global Summit in Paris, France, to launch the Plan and to share our experiences in creating it.
