Open Government Partnership – Australia
Have your say on the development of uniform metrics on the use of FOI laws in Australia
Commitment 3.2 of Australia’s first Open Government Partnership National Action Plan promotes the importance of better measuring and improving our understanding of the public’s use of rights under freedom of information laws.
Australian Information Commissioners and Ombudsmen, within the remit of each of their jurisdictions and led by NSW, have agreed on six proposed ‘Metrics on Public Use of Freedom of Information Access Rights’ that can be viewed here.
The metrics will enable the community to compare the performance of their local FOI laws with those in other states/territories and to advocate accordingly, as well as improving community understanding of how FOI laws work and how to access them.
Members of the public, experts and other stakeholders are invited to give your views on the metrics via a short survey here.
A summary of feedback received will be distributed to those who nominated to receive the summary. The results will also appear on the IPC website.
Your contribution is appreciated.
