The Open Government Forum met on Thursday 7 December 2017 via teleconference. The meeting focused on the discussion of ideas for prospective themes and the establishment of Communities of Interest around specialised subject areas as Australia looks to develop its next National Action Plan. Forum members also further discussed its role in promoting and raising awareness of the OGP.
Mr Damian Carmichael from the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science also provided an update to members on the progress of Open Government Commitment 5.2: Enhancing public participation in government decision-making. Mr Carmichael provided insights into the interviews conducted within and external to the Australian Public Service in the initial phase of the project and shared the findings that emerged from this research on meaningful and effective engagement and consultation.
